Sanger Institute
Complete fit out of a state of the art shared facilities building for the Genome campus at Hinxton, Cambridgeshire for Wellcome Trust.
With 2000 staff on site (predicted to expand to 3000 by 2020) the catering operation had to be designed to meet the varied needs of the campus occupants. The cooking elements of the kitchen are fully on view to the customers as they form part of the servery area. This allows the customers to see the production of their meals and gives an element of theatre, showcasing the fresh produce cooked each day.
The Pebble Café situated within the main seating area provided informal meeting opportunities and encourages the use of the dining area through out the day, not just at meal times.
Project Manager Jackie Snaith worked with the Client to formulate the Catering strategy and designed the facilities with Architects NBBJ.
